Mies van der Rohe Building Undergoes Window Retrofit By Signa System
Signa System has completed 58% of 2400 N Lakeview’s windows, passing the half way mark to completing the window retrofit.

Chicago – June 2013: Without removing the existing windows, a 262 unit condominium apartment building designed by Mies van der Rohe in 1963 undergoes an innovative window retrofit modernization to the building envelope utilizing Signa System’s retrofit insulated glass.

Since 1986 – 23 years after construction, Signa System Co. in cooperation with the condominium association at 2400 N Lakeview has been retrofitting unit owner’s windows to hermetically sealed insulated glass utilizing a patented method developed in Denmark. “This system developed in Denmark, allows us to create insulated glass out of the existing single glazed windows” says Rsyzard Borys – Company Owner & Inventor. Signa System has a track record of over 30 years in the USA and its installations are covered with a standard 10 year warranty, though the installations life expectancy is over 50 years. The condominium association at 2400 N Lakeview has already seen a positive boost in the buildings energy efficiency with 30% reduction in energy consumption.
Signa System has completed 58% of 2400 N Lakeview’s windows, passing the half way mark to completing the window retrofit. This 58% includes the Lobby, Garage Office, Equipment Penthouse, Managers Office and Pool Area in addition to the individual tenant units.
